The dental implant is like a metal tooth that is positioned into the jawbone beneath the gum line, that allows mount replacement teeth or bridge into that area. It is an ideal solution for the replacement of a natural tooth. It is a procedure that replaces the tooth with metal. It also replaces damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth, when lack of natural teeth roots don’t allow building denture.
Dental implants are artificial teeth that are implanted into the mouth and jaw and are often used when one loses their adult teeth. Implants provide a strong base for fixed or removable replacement teeth. Dental implanted teeth look like natural healthy teeth. It also preserves the overall structure of the mouth and does not allow other teeth to move from their natural place. With proper care, implants can last a lifetime. Dental implants in Pune require regular dental check-ups.
Surgical guide template fabrication involves a diagnostic tooth arrangement in three ways
- Diagnostic waxing
- Trial denture teeth arrangement
- Duplication of pre existing dentition
The first step of the dental implant process is the development of an individual person’s treatment plan. Next, the tooth root is implanted, which is a small structure made of titanium and is placed into the bone socket of the missing tooth. As the jawbone healing process takes place, it grows around the implanted metal post, anchoring it securely in the jaw. The overall process can take from 6 to 12 weeks.
When dental implants are placed in jawbone i.e. A, they bond with the natural bone. They become a sturdy base for supporting one or more artificial teeth, known as crowns.
A connector – known as an abutment i.e.B – is placed on top of the dental implant to hold and support the crowns. The crowns are custom-made to match the natural teeth and fit into the mouth i.e.C.
The treatment occurs in 2 to 3 sessions, during which fixation of implants, placement of replacement tooth, and cementing of the crown are carried out in a sequence.
There are two different types of dental implants:
Endosteal is referred to as an implant that is carried out “in the bone,” and subperiosteal refers to an implant that rests on top of the jawbone, under the gum tissue. Subperiosteal implants are no longer feasible because of their poor long-term results.
The primary function of dental implants is about teeth replacement, there are areas in which implants can assist in other dental procedures also. Due to the stability, dental implants can be used to support the removable dentures and provide a more secure and comfortable fit.
For people who have lost all their teeth due to decay or gum diseases of the upper and/or lower arch, implants are done to provide a very stable and comfortable prosthesis. The implants are placed in areas that have good strong bone and a thin denture prosthesis is screwed into that place.
There are many advantages if you choose a dental implant for tooth replacement. Dental implants are conservative and the missing teeth can be replaced without affecting or altering the adjacent teeth. Also, dental implants integrate into the bone structure, they are very stable and can have the look and feel of one’s own natural teeth.
